In March 2024, hackers attacked Leicester City Council, accessing sensitive data. The INC Ransom group claimed responsibility and posted proof of the breach. Initially thought to be 25 documents, LCC later confirmed that at least 1.3 terabytes of data was accessed. Will I be charged if my claim is unsuccessful?
There is virtually no circumstance in which you will be liable for paying our fees if we are unsuccessful in your claim. We simply ask that you do not mislead our legal teams and that you cooperate with our operatives throughout the claiming process. Full terms are available in our Damages Based and Conditional Fee Agreements.
What fee do Barings charge?
If we are successful in your claim, Barings Law charge a success fee of 25%+ VAT. These fees will be displayed in your CFA (Conditional Fee Agreement). The financial risk to our client is dramatically reduced by the use of a contingent fee agreement, which virtually eradicates the chances of our client facing having to pay legal fees after an unsuccessful claim.
What information do I need when submitting a claim?
When submitting a claim with us, all we require is a copy of the notification letter or email from the organisation that has been breached informing you that you have been impacted by the breach.
If you have been impacted financially, you can also submit any bank or credit statements that show discrepancies.
How long does the process take?
It is not possible to give an exact timeframe. A number of contributing factors that arise with any legal case may determine the speed of progress, one of which is the cooperation of the defendant.
