Barings Law’s Marinela Bouzo has been named as one of the region’s brightest rising legal eagles.
Paralegal Marinela heads our immigration casework. Her diligent work in achieving releases for a number of people held on immigration detention has seen her named among Insider North West’s brightest stars in the October edition’s Legal Review.
With a highly-successful track record of such releases – and positive outcomes in challenging deportation orders and asylum claims – to her name, Marinela is also well-placed to navigate intricate and complex EU applications.
She has also devised an innovative scoring system that helps Barings to quantify cases. This has proved so accurate and successful it has now been adapted for our data breach department, who use the system to quantify damages.
Marinela is dedicated to continuous learning and, rather than return to her family in her native Greece, she is determined to qualify as a solicitor in the UK and has enrolled on the Legal Practice Course (LPC) as she feels she will learn more following this path than by pursuing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
Her previous experience includes spells at a law firm in Greece and the legal department of EMAAR in Dubai, as well as holding a Bachelor’s degree in International Business.
Passionate about human rights, Marinela has also applied, been shortlisted for, and is awaiting the result of, her application for LPC course funding from the Clooney Foundation for Justice who fight for justice in matters of discrimination or human rights abuse by oppressive regimes.
At Barings Law we are proud of Marinela’s success so far and her inclusion in the business magazine’s Rising Stars list is well deserved.
Barings solicitor Adnan Malik said: “Marinela has gone above and beyond her work on various occasions. She constantly stays late into the evening when there is work to be done, even though she is never asked to stay later than her allocated hours. I can’t fault Marinela’s work ethic at all, either when it comes to doing her own work or assisting others.
“She also brings in immigration work to the firm without any assistance in the form of marketing or a financial budget.
“She has managed to get a number of individuals, who should not have been in immigration detention, released on immigration bail. She has a very good record of only one or two refusals and a large number of successes.”
