Barings Law Wins Data Protection & Privacy Law Firm of the Year

We are proud to announce that Barings Law has been named as Manchester’s Data Protection and Privacy Law Firm of the Year by Legal Insider.

This recognition by the respected publication focusing on the legal sector reflects our commitment to upholding the highest standards in data protection and privacy law and the efforts of our legal team. Their knowledge, hard work and determination to protect clients’ rights have played a key role in securing this award.

With technology evolving rapidly and the use of personal data increasing across all industries, we believe it’s never been more important to hold organisations accountable when they misuse or mishandle sensitive information.

Our legal team currently engaged in several complex protection and privacy cases. These range from individual data breach claims to large-scale group actions involving some of the biggest tech companies in the world. Each case is approached with a deep understanding of the law and a strong focus on achieving justice for those affected.

Among the most notable cases, we are currently pursuing groundbreaking claims against Microsoft and Google for the alleged misuse of personal data in the development and training of artificial intelligence (AI) models. These cases are believed to be the first of their kind in the UK and we are hopeful of setting new legal precedents in how tech giants are permitted to collect and use people’s data.

Barings Law is representing claimants across the UK who believe their personal data was accessed or processed without proper consent or transparency, raising serious questions about the legality of AI training practices and the ethical boundaries being set by emerging technologies.

As AI continues advance at an unprecedented pace, our work in this area is designed not only to seek redress for those affected, but also to help shape the future of data protection law in the UK.

In addition to our tech-focused litigation, we are also supporting those who have suffered as a result of data breaches. Whether caused by cyber-attacks, internal errors, or negligent data handling, breaches can have devastating consequences for those whose information is exposed.

We have successfully represented thousands of clients in cases where organisations have failed in their duty to safeguard personal data. From identity theft and financial loss to emotional distress, we understand the real-world impact of data breaches and fight to secure fair compensation for every client.

Our team continues to handle data breach cases, all with the aim of obtaining justice and improving industry standards.

Winning the Legal Insider award is a proud moment for the entire Barings Law team. It reflects the progress we’ve made, the expertise we’ve built, and our unwavering dedication to challenging injustice in the digital age. But most importantly, it highlights the human side of data protection — the affected clients who trust us to stand up for their rights and the legal professionals who go above and beyond to deliver results.

We’d like to thank Legal Insider for recognising our work, and we extend our gratitude to every member of our team for making this achievement possible. Your knowledge, your energy and your commitment are what drive us forward.

As we continue to grow our Data Protection and Privacy department, we remain focused on one core mission: empowering individuals and holding organisations accountable in an increasingly-complex digital world.

From pioneering cases against global tech companies to fighting for justice in everyday data breach claims, Barings Law will continue to lead from the front — protecting rights, challenging the status quo, and helping to shape the future of data privacy law in the UK.

If you believe your data has been misused, or if you’ve been affected by a data breach, our specialist team is here to help. For more information head to our data misuse website by clicking here or click the button at the bottom of this page to explore our data breach cases.
