We are currently looking to recruit a solicitor to join our team, based at our head office in Manchester.
The successful candidate will have wide-ranging experience of conducting litigation claims, good working knowledge of the CPR and will be smart, articulate, tenacious and committed to fighting for justice on behalf of our clients.
Main Duties and Responsibilites:
- Dealing with, and overseeing, claims;
- Issuing proceedings and conducting litigation at all levels;
- Maintaining client records and contact information, via our case management systems;
- Working to tight deadlines whilst maintaining professional and regulatory standards;
- Preparing and submitting claims and complaints to the FOS / FSCS and any other redress schemes that might be introduced;
- Managing all aspects of the civil litigation process, including drafting statements of case and witness statements;
- Providing ad-hoc training, support and supervision to the firm’s paralegals.
The successful candidate must have:
- Already qualified as a solicitor with 3+ years PQE in litigation;
- Knowledge of claims relating to mis-sold financial products and a proven background in civil litigation;
- Excellent, up-to-date knowledge of the CPR;
- Good working knowledge of one or more of the firm’s core claim types or a willingness and aptitude to learn;
- Significant civil litigation experience, with a demonstrable track record of achieving good outcomes for clients and achieving targets;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- The ability to maintain high standards of personal and professional conduct at all times;
- Strong time-management and inter-personal skills (must be approachable and willing to help others);
- A flexible approach to work;
- A good attitude towards time recording and achieving targets;
- Excellent computer skills (proficient with programs such as Adobe, Word, Excel etc);
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable but not essential:
- Previous experience in group litigation;
- Up-to-date knowledge of current issues and their impact on the law;
- Previous experience of training paralegals and junior colleagues in civil litigation, court procedures and CPR.
