Jessica Howkins

Digital Marketing Executive

I had a decade-long background in entertainment journalism, marketing and PR, but I transitioned into the world of legal marketing after the firm took a chance on me. I have been able to blend my love for writing and all things marketing with my passion for law.

I developed a love for law after studying media law as part of my degree at university. This passion now fuels my marketing efforts at Barings Law. In my time at Barings, I have better harnessed my content creation skills, but have also delved into the intricacies of SEO, contributing to the firm’s growth.

Questions With Jessica Howkins

Can you tell us an interesting fact about you?
Before joining Barings Law, I had a successful career working as a freelance journalist over the past decade. I have had my work printed in national and global magazines and I have worked with some of the biggest names in music from musicians and producers to festival organisers and record labels. I think my biggest achievement was working with Dee Snider of Twisted Sister (he’s also pretty cool at talking about law).
What is your favourite thing about working at Barings Law?
Every person is willing to listen and learn from one another, both professionally and personally. That attitude has made the firm very close-knit, diverse and inclusive. It’s refreshing to work somewhere without judgement or prejudice.
Do you have any special achievements or certifications relating to law?
Media Law (merged with my Music Journalism and Broadcasting degree) – NCTJ level.
