The digital world continues to evolve, escalating the threat of cybercrime, fraud and attacks, particularly when it comes to exchanging sensitive and personal information like bank details. Recognising the growing concern, Barings Law is dedicated to protecting the security of our clients.
Hoax emails
Please note that ALL Barings Law email addresses end with ‘@baringslaw.com’. Fraudsters have the ability to pose as someone from any organisation in order to involve members of the public in a scam or fraud.
Emails can occasionally come from our internal case management system, Zoho, when we need documents uploading or signing. These will usually come from ‘notifications@zohosign.eu’.
Please check the sender’s email address and, for your own security, do not open attachments or links unless you are sure the email is genuine. If you have any doubt, please contact us by calling 0161 200 9960 or speaking to us via our webchat to have one of our agents confirm this.
Any emails that do not end with ‘@baringslaw.com’ should be treated as highly suspicious. Please forward the email to info@baringslaw.com and inform them that you believe it to be fraudulent. It is important to NOT engage with the email.
Payments
To ensure a secure and seamless transaction payment process for successful cases, our clients are guided by our agents upon the receipt of the settlement.
Certain documentation will be required for verification purposes. This documentation, including proof of address and ID, can be securely uploaded through a designated link or sent directly via email if the client opts for this method. These measures are in place to confirm the identity of the client when submitting their bank details, which are also collected through a secure link or email.
Once verification checks are successfully completed and the information matches, our accountant initiates the payment process, ensuring that funds are directly transferred to the specified bank account. Clients have the option to request a physical cheque to be sent via post.
These verification checks are in place for the security of our clients to ensure they receive their settlement funds without the fear of fraudulent activity.
