Baring Law Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary

This November, we are delighted to celebrate our 15th anniversary at Barings Law. This milestone marks not just our years in practice, but it also represents a journey of commitment to justice on behalf of our clients. Since our founding, we have championed the rights of individuals and businesses, standing alongside them in pursuit of fair treatment and holding those responsible for their mistreatment to account. This celebration is a reflection of the trust and loyalty our clients have shown us, and it is with great pride that we continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we represent. You are welcome to join us as we reflect on Barings’ growth over the past 15 years, our achievements, our role as a leading legal-tech firm, and our ambitions for the future.

From Humble Beginnings to Industry Leader

Our growth over the years has been nothing short of remarkable. What began as a small business with just two staff members has evolved into a thriving law firm with more than 120 employees, united by a shared passion to make justice accessible to everyone. Initially focusing on personal injury claims, we expanded our range of services to meet the growing needs of our clients. Today, Barings Law proudly represents clients across various legal areas, including financial mis-selling, COVID-19 business interruption claims, data breach cases, bank fraud, credit claims, irresponsible lending and immigration law. Each new service we introduce is a testament to our unwavering dedication to protecting our clients’ rights and ensuring they receive the justice they deserve.

Our commitment to a no-win, no-fee service has made our legal assistance accessible to hundreds of thousands of people and businesses across the UK. Our journey from a handful of clients to now serving more than half a million shows the level of trust and support we have gained over the years.

Leading in Legal Technology

At Barings Law, we firmly believe that our use of technology to improve client outcomes and streamline our processes has strongly contributed to the growth of our firm. We are proud to be at the forefront of advancements within the legal industry, as demonstrated by our recent recognition as a finalist at the British Insurance Technology Awards in the ‘Best Use of Technology’ in the Legal Services category.

Our success with streamlined processes and advanced systems is down to the work of our technology team, and our head of Marketing and Technology, Melanie Cope Machial. Melanie’s dedication and expertise has been instrumental in implementing systems, such as Zoho CRM, which automates administrative tasks, freeing up our team to focus on what matters most – providing top-quality legal services for our clients. Not only has the transformation increased service capacity and reduced operational costs, but it has also heightened client satisfaction. We now have a 93.2% approval rate among clients who were surveyed and asked if they would recommend us to a friend.

Melanie’s influence goes beyond technology alone — she is a shining example of leadership and innovation for women in tech, having represented Barings Law at Zoholics UK, an event hosted by Zoho, where she showcased our use of Zoho’s enterprise tools in the legal industry. We are grateful for the advancements she has driven within our firm.

The Team Behind Our Successes

Our team is the heart of Barings Law, and our growth from a team of two to more than 100 staff members would not have been possible without their dedication. We take pride in fostering a supportive work environment where team members feel valued and connected. To help our legal team reach their goals, we have started offering training contracts and financial support for the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQEs), ensuring that our team has the resources they need to grow in their careers.

We also understand that the legal profession can be challenging, so we make it a priority to encourage inclusion and a positive workplace through annual events such as our sports day, Halloween and Christmas celebrations, and charity activities. These events strengthen our team bonds, create a welcoming space for new employees, and as a result it enhances the productivity and effectiveness of our work. We are proud to have maintained a close-knit, collaborative team culture despite our rapid growth, something we feel can get lost as many businesses grow.

Success Stories that Define Barings Law

Over the past 15 years Barings Law has been involved in landmark cases that have helped strengthen claims for our clients and other claimants across the UK. Our Business Interruption claims illustrate our dedication to justice, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. When insurers initially denied claims related to pandemic-related losses, we stood firm on behalf of businesses, winning a pivotal case in the Supreme Court that highlighted the ‘At the Premises’ disease cover. Despite appeals from the defendants, we secured a victory for our clients.

In fact, our Business Interruption claims helped us become recognised as a market leader in Solomonic’s Year In Review 2023 report. The report, based on research analysis of claims issued in civil courts, highlights Barings as the top law firm representing claimants according to claims issued in 2023. We were also ranked third for volume of claims issued. This recognition serves as a testament to the work and dedication of the entire team at Barings Law.

Our achievements extend to other areas in our firm as well. Our Immigration Department, with a success rate of 90%, has been instrumental in human rights cases. Led by Marinela Bouzo, named as one of the North West’s Legal Rising Stars, this department has helped clients navigate complex legal matters and helped give life-changing rights for those claiming asylum in the UK. We have also successfully represented clients in mis-sold investment and unaffordable motor finance claims, secured substantial settlements in bank fraud cases, and led the charge in data breach claims. Our head of the Data Breach department, Adnan Malik, is regularly invited to legal and technology exhibitions to speak about data security due to the work he has done at Barings Law.

Looking to the Future

As we celebrate our 15-year anniversary and reflect on all we have achieved and the clients we have helped, we are determined not to slow our pace. Our commitment to growth and innovation will continue as we strive to make justice accessible to all and in the years to come, we hope to secure even more awards and nominations. We also look forward to heading to more court cases where we can help make landmark rulings happen and make our mark in seeing more fairness in the sectors we are fighting to change.

Our greatest goal however is to see more of our clients walk away with the outcomes they deserve.

The Clients We Are Proud to Fight For

None of what we have achieved over the past 15 years would have been possible without our clients. Their trust in us to represent their interests and fight for fair outcomes is what keeps Barings Law moving forward. Each client is unique and valued, from those who reach out to our Customer Service team with a range of queries to those who participate in case studies, sharing their experiences to help raise awareness of the issues they face.

Our clients’ feedback on platforms such as Trustpilot, where we hold an impressive 4.4/5-star rating, speaks to the quality of service we provide. Our clients consistently highlight the personal touch they receive from our team, expressing appreciation for the human connection they feel when communicating with us. It’s feedback like this that inspires us to continue our work with passion and dedication, but it also reminds us on a daily basis to be humble about the people who have helped us grow.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to every client, past and present. Whether your case has been settled or is in progress, please know that we value and appreciate your trust in us.

The future holds immense possibilities for Barings Law, and we look forward to the next chapter with optimism and dedication. Here’s to another 15 years of growth, advocacy, and justice for all.
