In the event that a claimant is unable to pursue legal matters due to factors such as ill health, an impaired mental state or the death of the claimant, Power of Attorney can be assigned in order for the claim to continue.
Granting someone Power of Attorney allows a trusted representative to step in and make legal decisions on the original claimant’s behalf. This arrangement ensures that the legal interests and rights are protected, even in circumstances where they may be physically or mentally unable to actively engage in the legal process.
As part of our responsibility as your solicitor, we need to conduct Know-Your-Customer (KYC) checks. Verifying via valid ID and Power of Attorney documents proves that we have your full authority to act on your behalf. KYC is simply a process that law firms (and other businesses) carry out to verify their clients’ identities. By following this important process we can assess whether clients are who they claim to be. This helps to reduce the risk of money laundering and/or terrorist financing.
Barings Law is committed to proving a supportive and adaptable legal framework, acknowledging the diverse needs of our clients and potential challenges they may face.
If you wish for someone to act on your behalf, or have been instructed to act, having been granted Power of Attorney, please contact us on 0161 200 9960 and one of our team will help arrange a transfer of case for you.
