A Claimant Assignment, which you are likely to find as part of our Conditional Fee Agreement, is simply an legal document that grants us the exclusive authority to carry out a claim on your behalf and allows us to borrow the necessary funding for the costs and disbursements associated with your claim.
This document protects you and your claim in the event of a problem arising that could potentially have an effect on Barings Law’s ability to represent you.
While it is highly unlikely that the protection offered by the Claimant Assignment would be needed throughout the course of your claim, it is a necessary document that any client using our legal representation will be required to sign. The progression of your case should not be affected by your signing of the Claimant Assignment. However, should our ability to represent you be affected in any way, your claim will not be protected.
Please be aware that any sums borrowed for your claim are to be deducted from any damages you receive at the conclusion of the claim.
There is no charge for signing the Claimant Assignment. Remember, as with any fees and charges, you will not pay Barings Law a penny for our services until your claim is successful and you receive a compensation payment from the defendant.
